We have a winner!
For those interested, Pastor Frank Sansone solved the 12-ball challenge problem that I posted back in August. I don't have the great prizes that they are giving away over at Unknowing, so Frank will just have to settle for the satisfaction of a puzzle well solved.

What, no coasters? No free dinner? I am very disappointed.:)
That is the type of puzzle I used to love doing as a kid, but don't have much time for anymore.
{Acceptance Speech Mode) I would like to thank Andy for making this possible. I would also like to thank David for giving me the direction in which to go (I spent about 40 minutes after I first read it trying to figure it out by thinking of weighing as something done on a scale that shows numbers rather than compares items - the formulas I was trying to employ were getting ridiculous and not solving the problem). I would also like to thank Mr. Steve Berglind, one of my deacons, for confirming to me that my thinking seemed to be clear to him before I posted a response. I would also like to thank McDonalds for the use of the 12 balls from the ball pit in playland and for sponsoring the contest and Wal-Mart for supplying the bags. I would like to thank Sesame Street for teaching me the number 12. I would like to thank ...(Men in coats come to take me away). I could not have done it without all of your support. Thank you and good night. (Holds up printed out blog page in triumph while being dragged away).
(End speech mode).
Have a good day, Andy and company.
